CALLING/SUMMONS: As Paul describes it- God’s initiative to bring people to Christ and to participate in His redemptive work in the world. A summons from God to practice particular spiritual gifts such as teaching, preaching, or prophecy.
We all, as servants of the LORD, have a role to play in the kingdom of God. Known as our calling by God, it can also be called our gifts and talents (the ones given by God, not the ones we made up and gave to ourselves). Our gifts from God have already been given but in order to realize them we must have a change of mind, (a repentance mind), a made-up mind, to convert from serving sin to serving God. This positive move, in our life, involves a conscientious conviction of sin, contrition over anything done contrary to God’s word, will, or way, and a turning away from a sinful way of life. For one to truly and completely acknowledge the call on their life, from our Father God, sin in any form must be done away with. This also means the relinquishment of any practice that one believes has offended God. (Romans 11:29 – For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance).
Your call or summons has to be positively identified by you, the player. You need to know what it is to be, with YAH’s help, so you will know it is the right and righteous one for you as an individual. And how to walk according to how it has been given. In our walk with God, we as followers of Christ, should view humility as the most important Christian virtue; a prerequisite for Christians, and getting it wrong could have eternal consequences. It is an attitude of the heart – demonstrating meekness, lowliness, and absence of self, (which we all need to practice) high on God’s scale of truth and love. It is also characterized as obedience to God, respect of self and others, submissiveness and modesty. When the practice of humility is encouraged in our daily lives, love, peace, patience, joy, progress, etc., will be the results. Therefore, as you walk in your calling, in love and truth, you will develop the healthy fear of God (a prerequisite in a healthy relationship with the Father) and a righteous course to your salvation. More to come on why we should be humble. (Ephesians Chapter 4:1-3 1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, 2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; 3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace).
Many a mistake and a whole lot of confusion have been made and came about by the ones who did not hear from God but took it upon themselves to strike out on their own. And instead of helping their brothers and sisters they may cause pain and confusion. There are so many who are hungry for the TRUTH and out of desperation, have taken the word of a false prophet or a baby Shepard (false prophet-one who did not hear from God but heard from the devil or the latter, who was not learned in God’s Word, Jesus, themselves), got discouraged and turned away God’s Word (Jesus) completely. Because you did not understand the fullness of your call/summons. Therefore, the teaching was not full of wisdom, knowledge, and understanding and complete with love, truth, and guidance. Get wisdom first. (Proverbs 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding).
There may have been a sort of guidance, but it was not according to Jesus’ example and scripture’s truth. Most time we call ourselves. This was not a call or summons from God but a call from man’s own greedy little mind encouraged by the enemy to kill and destroy. And we need to understand this. He (the devil) will do anything to cause us to stray; even involving our call to serve God, in Jesus’ name. Satan is a liar and with him comes the appearance of goodness and prosperity when he wants to gain control. And it does not mean that those who take the bait and follow after his demoralizing lies does not prosper for a little while, it means that even though it appears they are prospering in the sight of man, a worldly way, they are not in the sight of God, the spiritual and holy way. So, be careful how you think about yourself and who you allow to feed your thoughts. Please don’t allow your worldly position to control your feelings, when it comes to determining and making crucial decisions in your life toward your walk with God, yourself, and others. Seek God first to find out if what you are thinking is what He wants you to do. Because when you run ahead of God, He will give you enough rope to entangle yourself. (1 Corinthians 10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall). Those who proceed without His blessings will encounter things that will cause them to be terrified, dismayed, astonished, or stupefied with amazement. But those who choose to honor and obey (considered the weak) will be used to destroy or overthrow those who considered themselves mighty. It is so important to know that your calling is in Truth. 1 Corinthians Chapter 1:26-27 26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;)
When Jesus, spoke on the call to deny yourself and take up your cross, He is speaking to those of us who walk around claiming to be believers, in the light of day but in the dark hours of their heart are committing a magnitude of sins. not just our Christian leaders. Because there are many Some are called to a life of ministry. Some are called to sacrifice their lives for God’s kingdom. But it all boils down to the ultimate and most important calling and election which includes all of us are giving up our worldly lives and dedicate ourselves to Christ and our fellow man. (Matthew 16:24-26 24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. 26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul)?
When we have taken on something that we have selected as our calling (by God) we need to know, for sure, that it is, indeed, from Him. Because there are times when you jump into something, and it does not belong to you. The fit is just not right. It’s too loose. Everything you do to try and make it yours, does not work but make it worse. You are not comfortable with it. It causes anxiousness and anxiety; failing to be a blessing to those Jesus would have you to help. But then there is the one where it fits like a glove. And because it is the one in which God, through Jesus, has sanctioned and called you to do, it is an easy task for you, with enjoyment, peace, patience, and perseverance. You settle into the comfort and peace of it and perform with excitement and ease; being a help to those who Jesus would have you to help.
So, stop to hear the voice of God (it is soft, not loud) so that your call/summons will come through loud and clear.
GOD’S GOT IT NO WORRY NO FEAR.
