A SPIRITUAL TREASURE FOUND

A SPIRITUAL TREASURE FOUND, MY MOTHER’S NOTE: WRITTEN TO US (HER CHILDREN, ESPECIALLY), WHEN WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO, AS SITUATIONS, TRIALS, TROUBLES, AND TRIBULATIONS CONFRONTS US.

Although I posted this, not in its entirety, on January 20, 2022, I feel the need to finish it. Yes, I could give you a verse here and a tidbit there but why should I? It would be like breaking off a small piece of turkey. Knowing that the bulk of the flavor and nutrients is in the whole. So, I write with the purpose of giving as much of the meat of the gospel, as I can; hoping that with it comes clarification, inspiration, spiritual satiation, leading to revelation.

A TREASURE FOUND – MY MOTHER’S NOTE

I recently noticed this note my mother, Lucy B. Scott, had written and placed in her Bible, many years ago. When it came to reading the Bible, she, like so many of the women in our community, was very studious and very deliberate (thoughtful, and purposeful,) to be able to reflect on what Jesus said to them, by way of Scripture, and share it with their family, especially the children. She had to show herself as the Lord’s woman of faith; an example of a true follower of Christ Jesus. Which most all the mothers in the neighborhood had to be because during that time, as it should be with today’s uncertainties, each family depended heavily on the LORD. The mothers, in yester years, were the backbone of the family; holding it together with whatever glue (measure of faith) God provided them with. They armed themselves with their trust, belief, and faith and in prayer, supplication, humility, and truth they gratefully received God’s strength, grace, and mercy, topped with a measure of favor, for that particular circumstance, trial, trouble, or tribulation. This type of mother’s love, concern, and covering (relationship with God, through Jesus), should be seen in our children and their children and passed down from generation to generation: because all of us needed/need as much covering as we could get. This is done through sharing the Word of God to all who will. (Isaiah 54:13 And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of thy children. Proverbs 20:10-12 10 Divers weights, and divers measures, both of them are alike abomination to the Lord. 11 Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right. 12 The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the Lord hath made even both of them. Proverbs 22:6 6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it).

It is a brief note, to herself, that gave herself permission to seek the face, hand, heart, and wings of YHWH, GOD, through Yashuah, Jesus, any time she found herself at a crossroad. It taught her to continue leaning right (on Him) and not to veer off God’s planned course, no matter how far the world was leaning left (unrighteousness). While searching for answers to her daily questions, she found solitude in resting in the peace and patience she received from Yashuah, Jesus and the Holy Spirit; much needed to wait for the answers. And once the answers came and were clear, her shear thankfulness and gratitude were shown through prayer, praise, singing, and shouting. (Proverbs 3:5-6 5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths).

Below you will find the Book, chapter, and the first several scriptures. I have taken excerpts, stating the key components in the chapter, but I suggest you read the entire chapter, studying it to grasp the full meaning of its revelation. We are to study God’s Word, to show ourselves approved. (2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth).  You don’t just memorize certain facts, we feel are necessary to impress or get you by but know that it is most important for us to trust in the Lord, and be faithful in our hearts, so we gain the wisdom and the knowledge to understand and apply God’s word to our lives. To be faithful in the things we do for YHWH, God, through Yashuah, Jesus emphasizes and show the importance of true integrity and honesty in our relationship with God and our fellow man. My mother recognized the need to cultivate faithfulness not just outwardly, but also within the thoughts, intentions, and motives of the heart. To incorporate all the goodness of God’s Word (Jesus), not just in our daily lives but throughout our entire life and all that we encounter, we must demonstrate faithfulness to God’s purpose, plans, and principles and live a life that aligns with His teachings. He will direct us to the path we are to take and guide us along it in His Truth. (2 Timothy 2:1-4 (entire chapter) 1 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. 3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier).

WHEN YOU ARE IN SORROW: We all, at one time or another, find ourselves feeling down and sorrowful. But Jesus told us to not allow our hearts to be troubled, but as we believe in God to bring us out of troubles, trials, and tribulations, so we are to believe in Him; for our joy and profound happiness also. Because what He came to do is strictly for our benefit; it encompasses all who will come.

John 14:1-6 1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.  2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. 4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. 5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

BEFORE CHURCH SERVICES: It is always good to go down on your knees, before we go to church, getting our heart and minds in a humble state; in the presence of God to confess your faults, to enter into His house with a clear heart, and mind. You will receive the wisdom and knowledge needed, so you will not be hindered in your worship.God does not withhold any good thing from those who serve Him righteously.

Psalm 84:1-4, 10-12 1How amiable are thy tabernacles, O Lord of hosts! 2 My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the Lord: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God. 3 Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O Lord of hosts, my King, and my God. 4 Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah. Psalm 84:10-12 10 For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. 11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. 12 O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.

WHEN YOU HAVE SINNED:  As a child of YHWH we know that when you sin, all you need to do is ask God, in all respect and honesty, and He will forgive you; He, unlike man, will remember them no more. God through our Saviour and His Son, Jesus, will have mercy on you for being repentant of your sins. He will wash you with the blood of His Lamb, Jesus, Who paid the ultimate sacrifice for the remission of our sins. So, let us remember that God, as long as we repent, will forgive our sins because He made a way for Him to accept our asking Him to do so. The time He put between knowing and forgetting is as far as the East is from the West (two points which never meets). We need but to ask God, through Jesus, to purge us from our evil ways and wash our hearts and minds so they will reflect the thoughts and compassion of Yashuah, Jesus and help to rid us of sin; creating a brand new and clean heart; from the result of a renewed spirit, one of God not the world.

Psalm 51:1-12 1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. 2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. 3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. 4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest. 5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. 6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom. 7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. 8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. 9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. 11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. 12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

WHEN YOU ARE IN DANGER: When one of God’s children find himself in danger, all he has to do is find that secret place, in God, that He has allowed for us. We seek to find shelter under His almighty wings of protection, knowing that His truth will be divine armor, and His faithfulness is our reward. When you are in trouble and you find yourself in a situation you don’t know how to maneuver through, it is better to go to the Rock (GOD, in Jesus’ name), hide in His love and truth, and trust Him to shield you from any terrible thing that comes near you. There we find the refuge we need, and He will keep us from any harm that others are trying to do to us both during the day or night.

Psalm 91:1-6, 9-12 1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. 3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. 4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. 5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; 6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

Psalm 91:9-12 9 Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; 10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. 11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. 12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

WHEN YOU ARE WORRIED: There are treasures, heavenly and there are treasures earthly. We have a tendency to think hard or worry about the things that are dear to us; the ones which give us a feeling of pride and accomplishment; those things accumulated over the years, mainly material things. But our spiritual treasures are what we need to be truly concerned with, not worry, mind you because Jesus told us not to. But we are to get our mind and hearts in line with God, depending on Him for all we need and some of our wants. So, we are to make sure we are sending up treasure (love, compassion, help, faith, hope, belief, etc.) to our spiritual bank, rather than doing all we can to build it up here (put our faith and trust in man and this world’s system) where it will decay or fade away. The material things of life we cannot take with us and when we are gone, they will remain. But what will meet us in our after life is what we did and are doing for God in the name of Christ our Lord and Saviour. Will you seek your heavenly home or hell home? Matthew 6: 19, 34 19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

Matthew 6:34 34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

WHEN YOU ARE DISCOURAGED: My mother could have wallowed in discouragement and would have been    for doing so. But instead, she would pick up her Bible and began to read. Then she would sit and pray. This type of response is what God wants from His children, not to shrivel up in a corner and complain, blame, or go insane but seek Him when the road we are traveling seems to have ended. Because He is the Master Paver and when it ends for us, He will lay down some more (better than we ever could) so that we can keep moving forward (and not come to a standstill). You will be comforted, and the outcome of the battle we were and still are engaged in on this road of life, which causes you to become discouraged, will be accomplished by the LORD. Open up your heart in preparation for the Lord (Jesus) to enter in. He will make your paths, in the desert of your life, straight; once you allow Him to enter into your heart. He will do the opposite of what the world is giving you (false hope and promises never meant to come to fruition).

When it comes to showing His love for you; He will bring your sadness and valleys of life up to meet His love and wonderful glory; the mountains that, at one time thought too high will be brought down for you; so that you will be able to reach the things on top in order for you to help with your accomplishments, spiritually and naturally. Every crooked deed done before you will be revealed and made straight; all the things that tries to deter you from your service to God (those which come at you from others, in a harsh, intimidating, fraudulent, evil way will be made plain so that you will understand and know which direction to go; this will be shown to you in unison with the ones who seek God in times of discouragement and not mad; the one who caused you to be discouraged. Isaiah 40: 1 Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God. 2 Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the Lord’s hand double for all her sins. 3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. 4 Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain: 5 And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.

As my mother and the women of our youth chose to be, we are to be constantly studious in the Word; encouraged, freed of sorrow, know what His house is all about, willing to and ask for the forgiveness of our sins (yes, all of us commit them), know who to turn to in the event of danger, learn who to go to when we began to worry or get discouraged. After you have read this, go to Psalm 86, and read it. It is an all-inclusive prayer, of David, to Father GOD, for deliverance from everything contrary to the LORD’s will. GODS GOT IT NO WORRY NO FEAR.

EXTRA SCRIPTURES FOR MORE INFORMATION AND INSPIRATION:

ISAIAH 40:6 The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field:

7 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the Lord bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.

8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

9 O Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, that bringest good tidings, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God!

10 Behold, the Lord God will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.

11 He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.

12 Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?

13 Who hath directed the Spirit of the Lord, or being his counsellor hath taught him?

14 With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding?

15 Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing.

16 And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering.

17 All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.

18 To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him?

19 The workman melteth a graven image, and the goldsmith spreadeth it over with gold, and casteth silver chains.

20 He that is so impoverished that he hath no oblation chooseth a tree that will not rot; he seeketh unto him a cunning workman to prepare a graven image, that shall not be moved.

21 Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth?

22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:

23 That bringeth the princes to nothing; he maketh the judges of the earth as vanity.

24 Yea, they shall not be planted; yea, they shall not be sown: yea, their stock shall not take root in the earth: and he shall also blow upon them, and they shall wither, and the whirlwind shall take them away as stubble.

25 To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.

26 Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.

27 Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from the Lord, and my judgment is passed over from my God?

28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.

29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.

30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:

31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

I am a wife, mother, grandmother and great grand. I love my family, friends and everyone I meet. But most of all I love me some YHWH Who is the lifter of my head and the light of my life's pathway. Without Him I can do nothing but with Him nothing is impossible for me to do.
